Appy Christmas!

Nobody wants a touch of frost this Christmas (on boxset or on their car), so how about a touch of some helpful seasonal magic instead? Yes, the inevitable has happened, now your iPhone can cook your Christmas dinner too. Sort of.

Following the success of the Great British Chefs app earlier this year, this new Feastive app features some of the most dynamic British chefs offering their take on a seasonal meal. Available to download onto your iPhone or iPad (now you get the ‘touch’ jokes), the app puts a mix of 60 brilliantly simple and wonderfully complex recipes in the palm of your hand.

With the help of 12 of the best chefs in the country, including the likes of Marcus Wareing, Tom Aikens and Theo Randall, you can cook up a storm this Christmas as they offer you step-by-step guides and how-to videos encouraging you to cook anything from a single feastivedish to a full five course menu. Each chef has provided three full menus with five courses per menu (canapés, starters, mains, desserts and petit fours), and from the 1st of December you can upgrade your app to 21 chefs and 105 recipes.

Some of the recipes include, Roasted Venison, Spatchcock Pigeon with Cavolo Nero, Scallops with Chestnuts, and Hot Fig Mousse.

You need not worry about getting your lamb jus all over your iPhone or iPad as the app features a voice control function -they’ve thought of everything! There is even a Shopping List function that allows you to collect together a list of produce you will need, and profile videos on all of the chefs involved.

A free version of the app is also available that includes the full recipes for Marcus Wareing’s five course menu and allows you to view the 11 other menus from the Great British Chefs.

And you can meet Marcus Wareing himself, this Thursday 1st December at the Apple store in Covent Garden at 7pm, as he will be appearing to discuss the app, along with Matthew Fort, strategic advisor to Great British Chefs.

There’s no reason to celebrate Christmas the way you did last year when you have some of the country’s finest chefs at your finger tips! Both apps are available on iTunes now.
