I’m sure it comes as no surprise as we tell you that Heston’s been at it again. Not quite the ‘Hidden Orange Christmas Pudding’ he did last year that ended up being the most sought after pudding (possibly EVER), but still just as delish, Heston has created his own take on the iconic Easter Hot Cross Bun.
Exclusively for Waitrose, Heston has a new Hot Cross Bun that is extra indulgent, extra fruity, and terribly scrumptious. Heston has created a bespoke flavour for his buns by soaking sultanas, golden sultanas, California raisins and Chilean flame raisins in his favourite English tea – Earl Grey. (That’s my favourite too, Heston.) After leaving them to infuse overnight, allowing them to get plumper and juicier, they are jam-packed into a brioche textured bun, along with a blend of orange zest, mandarin and bergamot extracts and orange pieces.
The result is a Hot Cross Bun that oozes a fruity, zesty and almost floral flavour. These magical buns hit the shelves yesterday. I’d recommend getting yours in now, who knows, could be worth a couple of grand come Easter.
