Chip, Chip Hooray!

It’s been over 150 years since the first portion of chips were fried in a small fish and chip shop in Oldham, and we’d say that’s cause for celebration! That is why we are on board in dedicating not just a day but a whole week to these golden-shelled, fluffy-centred national treasures of deliciousness.

Fancy a freebie? Kerbisher & Malt, purveyors of the finest Fish & Chips in town, are feeling generous during Chip Week so will be offering complimentary chips for the first 10 people through the door each day. The restaurant opened last spring and has been hugely successful with locals and critics alike, even attracting the likes of Boris Johnson, Simon Cowell and Bill Bailey. They were also awarded ‘Best contemporary fish and chip shop in Great Britain’ by Esquire Magazine. Yes, that’s a real award. Set your alarm clocks and get to 164 Shepherds Bush Road W6 for 12pm when they open to be one of the lucky ten.

By no means should you feel you have to cook your own chips this week, not with Giraffe restaurant’s specially created spud-tastic menu available for you to feast on.

Ketchup, vinegar, maybe even mayonnaise (we don’t judge), but why not change it up and have a look at what Giraffe have creatively paired their chips with? You can drown your fries with three-bean chilli and cheddar cheese, or add some Latina kick by having them Bravas style.  Smother them with melted Jack cheese and crispy bacon bits, and (if you don’t mind the consequential breath) order the herby garlic fries. The favourite at the moment is the sweet potato fries with chipotle aioli. We understand why. Are you gagging for the grease? Chip chop! This menu is only available until the end of the week!

Forget the fish, this week it’s all about the chips.
