Hoy Savoy

If I were 121 one years old, I’m sure it would be fair for me to give myself a complete makeover for all the world to see. After all change is good, right? Well, that is exactly what happened to The Savoy Hotel in October 2010 and not just a makeover, but a £220 million refurbishment of the whole hotel. We’re talking about all 268 rooms including the suites, the restaurants, the bars, yep,  nothing was left untouched,  apart from their excellent reputation of course, which is still intact.

The Savoy on the Strand is the crown jewel of London Hotels and definitely one of theplaces to be seen at, whether it be for a long weekend, a night cap, lunch, dinner, hell even just to take a family snap outside of the majestic entrance.

The first quarter of 2012 is set to be extremely exciting at The Savoy with a plethora of exciting events.

As you may or may not know January the 25th is Burn’s Night. The Savoy is hosting an authentic Burn’s Supper in association with Dewar’s whisky, complete with all the usual Burns traditions of bagpipes, toasts and merriments.  The Menu includes ‘Traditional Cullen Skink with Poached Hen’s Egg and Crusty White Bread’ to start followed by ‘Haggis Neeps and Tatties’. For the main course lucky diners can expect ‘Slow Roasted Scottish Rib of Beef, Yorkshire Pudding, Beans, Carrots, and Roasted Potatoes with Dewar’s Gravy’. ‘Clootied Dumpling with Strawberry jam and warm custard’ for dessert with coffees, teas and shortbread at the ready. The price of this Scottish culinary journey is just £70 per head.

Thursday 26th of January sees the Managing Director Frederic Rouzand host a decadentLouis Roederer Champagne dinner, where each course will be accompanied by the finest vintage Champagnes. Examples of these carefully thought pairings (without giving too much away) are the ‘Pan-seared Foie Gras terrine’ with a glass of ‘LR Vintage 2004′ and the ‘Sole Victoria’ which is poached sole with lobster and truffles paired with a glass of Cristal 2000. Let the glutton inside you free, it’s an offer not to be missed costing £190 per person.

Sometimes it’s great to plan ahead and the 27th of March is one for the calendar when a very rare and indulgent evening with Dom Perignon hosted by wine genius Richard Bamfield will take place. Each Champagne will come with a specially created dish. Champagne will include oenotheque and Dom Perignon Rose.  Tickets at £250 each.

Like Cocktails? You’re just in luck as the Savoy’s renowned head bartenders Erik Lorincz and Chris Moore invite you to experience a masterclass filled with knowledge, tips and techniques from classic cocktails to temporary concoctions. This is priced at £135 per person which includes 6 drinks and canapés. It is perfect for a creative date, a fun evening with friends or if you just want to widen your cocktail horizons. You’ll come home with fresh new recipes sure to impress.
