Oxford Circus Ice Ice Baby

The moniker of “London’s coolest bar” takes on a whole new meaning this winter as Aqua Kyoto in Oxford Circus offers the perfect retreat from the January sales mayhem below. Move over Heddon Street’s Below Zero Ice Bar, the Sake & Sushi Ice Bar is in town until February 12th.

London’s only outdoor ice bar gives us the chance to embrace rather than escape the big chill this year. Take in spectacular views across the city whilst warming yourself with the range of premium sakes on offer (and if you’re still chilly, cashmere blankets are on hand too with a number of outdoor heaters thrown in for good measure).

Feeling adventurous? Then why not try one of the various sake cocktails on offer, such as the comforting festive flavours of “The Aoki”, made with cinnamon syrup, warm apple juice and sake, served with vanilla jelly cubes or “The Kiyoshi”, maple syrup muddled with fresh cucumber, lemon zest and Sho Chiku Bai Classic Sake.

The torched salmon sushi topped with guacamole and sea bass sushi with chilli and sesame or the finger-warming hand-held bowls including stir fried winter chestnut udon noodles, and steamed king crab leg in miso soup will have you believing you’re feasting al fresco at Mount Fuji itself.

For goodness sake, treat yourself after a hard day’s shop at one of central London’s coolest venues, in more ways than one.
