In an effort to improve London’s health and nutrition, Poncho 8, Soho’s Gourmet Burrito Restaurant, has introduced new menu options like the Slo Carb Box and the Skinny Box.
The restaurant, which opened in July, offers fresh and nutritious alternatives to fried and greasy Mexican food, and the best part is that the food tastes even better. All of the restaurant’s meals are slow-cooked or grilled and all ingredients are locally grown—free from refined sugars and trans fats.
For those seeking long lasting energy, the Slo Carb Box combines key ingredients like peppers, onions, beans, meat, guacamole and salsa, all of which were chosen by expert personal trainers from the City’s The Foundry to keep energy levels in busy professionals maintained throughout the day. This filling meal is high in protein, high in fibre, and low in price at only £5 a box.
To help those trying to lose weight, the new Skinny Box contains a burrito with a twist. Instead of a tortilla, traditional burrito ingredients lay on a fresh green salad, removing about 200 calories. But if tortillas still appeal to you, feel free to order a burrito without the guilt. Poncho 8’s are rich in vitamins and fibre and use freshly cooked beans rather than refried ones, so your body won’t resent you afterwards.
And whatever you do, don’t leave Poncho 8 without trying the guacamole. It’s great for health reasons, of course, as avocados have the highest fibre content of any fruit and can help prevent heart disease, but it’s also just plain delicious!
